Privacy policy
This is a personal portfolio and blog. It has no accounts, forms or comments, and I do not collect your name, email or any other details directly. The only data collected comes from two Google services described below.
Google Analytics
Every page uses Google Analytics (measurement ID G-YLE4R5QVN1) to count visits and see which pages and links are used, how far articles are read, and which social post or video a visit came from (short links under /go/ add campaign tags for this). Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your approximate location, and your browser and device type. I only see aggregated reports, not who you are.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
The homepage and the blog (the /writing/ page and its articles) show ads served by Google AdSense. This privacy page does not. On pages with ads, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons and device identifiers to show ads, measure them, and, where you have allowed it, personalize them based on your visits to this and other sites.
Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this site and others. You can learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services ↗.
Your choices
- Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy settings link that message provides.
- Visitors in US states with privacy laws can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising through the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" option in Google's message.
- Anyone can turn off personalized ads from Google in My Ad Center ↗, block or delete cookies in their browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on ↗.
Ad blockers
If you use an ad blocker, pages with ads may show a short Google message asking you to allow ads. You can choose to keep blocking them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
